This is the last straw. She'll regret that she even thought about messing with me Jazz D'Luna finished yanking on the last of Lavender's clothing as she stuffed her own traditional stockings and shorts into her backpack.
"Hello!! Jazz you've been in there for almost half an hour!" Charlene popped her head over the side of the bathroom stall, "This is a really bad idea. He'll know it's you from your haircut."
"So I tell him I styled it differently. Who cares? Does Jazz look like she'd ever wear this?" The door to the bathroom stall flew open and Jazz walked out completely decked out in a stylish formal dress, Lavender colored of course. "Can you believe that 50 years ago people used to wear formal dresses only for dances and stuff? Lavender wears these every freakin' day."
Charlene laughed, then paused for a moment before digging into her own backpack. "Here," she said, holding out a bottle of hair regrowth, "I was saving this for Ray's party next week but you've got to get your revenge. It grows an inch a minute, so don't add too much. Good luck!"
"Save it. I can pull this off," Jazz smirked and gave her friend a hug before leaving the bathroom. Her heels clacked against the marble floor of her High School as she made her way towards the back of the library.
That bitch... I can't believe she- Jazz shook her head Just forget about it!
Jazz turned the corner and saw him straight ahead. He was always there; he got out of classes a half an hour before Lavender and waited for her there. Jazz nervously glanced at her watch. 2 minutes, she had 2 minutes. She took a deep breath.
"Trevor!" Jazz called out. Trevor looked up and gave her a warm smile before she saw his hesitation. A shiver swept up his spine and he rubbed his hands together as if he was suddenly cold. It wasn't something new to Jazz though, she noticed that a lot of people acted the same when she was around.
"Lav? You change your hair? Why's it all short like Jasmine's?" Trevor reached for Jazz's hand, completely oblivious as to who she really was.
Jazz gave an unnoticable twitch at the sound of her given name. "No... just for the day. I'll grow it out tomorrow," she said a little stiffly before she leaned herself against him. "Who cares about the hair... right?"
"Yeah, who care-" Trevor was silenced as Jazz unexpectedly pulled down his head and pressed her lips against his. The kiss was broken almost immediately. "Whoa, we're still at school! You never-"
"I don't care," Jazz breathed and kissed him again. She finally felt him relax and their kiss deepened. His thumb brushed against her cheek.
Why... why can't he be my boyfriend?
"JAZZ?!?"
The kiss was broken abruptly and the 2 minute couple found themselves staring into the face of Jazz's identical twin sister.
"Lavender?" Trevor's voice cracked in fear. Everyone who was anyone knew about the rivalry between the two D'Luna sisters.
Jazz smirked confidently with the face of a winner on, but it immediately turned into shock when Lavender charged at her. Punches were thrown and curses were exchanged. Trevor feebly tried to break them up.
"There's plenty of me to go around!" he tried to joke.
"WE'RE THROUGH!" Lavender yelled and roughly shoved him back. Jazz's eyes widened when she heard what Lavender had said. She had never intended them to break up. Through that split second, she was caught off guard. She felt the impact of a punch to her face and then, she felt nothing.
"It's snowing."
Jazz's eyes opened and blurred into focus. She saw white flakes falling from the sky, and Lavender sitting not too far away. She rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn't seeing things.
"It's snowing, just started about a minute ago" Lavender said again. "It's all over the news. The first snow in 50 years." She held up a pocket radio she was listening to.
"Listen, Lav, I'm so sorry. I never meant for you two to-"
"It's fine. I couldn't stand to be with someone you kissed anyway. But I guess you've kissed every guy there is so why should it matter?," Lavender gave a hollow laugh. Jazz stayed silent, her body was throbbing too much to feel hatred. Lavender spoke again. "You'd better change, I ripped up your dress. I called Mom and told you her you had fainted from starving yourself. She told me to stay with you."
Jazz quickly changed where they were, for the school was deserted. According to the radio, everybody had gone up to the northridge to see more snowfall. It was a day that would be marked down in history. The two girls began to walk home together in silence, taking in the miracle that it was actually snowing on Earth.
Gradually, the snow began to pick up speed as it fell and more and more flakes fell from the sky. Lavender started shivering violently and started running ahead but Jazz didn't feel cold at all.
"Hey, wait up!" Jazz called out, but her voice was lost in the wind, which began to blow violently. Jazz could barely see and kept squinting to keep the snow out of her eyes. She knew now that they were in a blizzard.
A little black blob began moving at lightning speed towards Jazz.
"Lavender!?" she called out, although she knew the blob couldn't possibly be a human. Her best bet was a cat or a dog. As it grew closer, she saw that it had bulging yellow eyes and was definently not a cat or a dog. She started feeling dizzy and realized that everything was distorting around her.
Am I getting frostbite? What the heck is going on?!? Jazz panicked and yelled out for Lavender a few more times.
More and more of the black bug creatures began emerging from the ground and coming towards her. They clamped down on her legs and began sucking her into the ground. Jazz looked down and noticed that the floor had become a pool of black. She began screaming for help but it was too late. She was neck deep in the hole already.
"LAVENDER!!! SOMEBODY!!" She screamed before becoming engulfed in the hole.
